A new grant from the U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF) will fund research in collaboration with Dr. DeWayne Shoemaker (USDA) on the population genomics in a hybrid zone of fire ants in the U.S. The study aims at identifying genomic regions under selection in the hybridizing populations of two introduced (invasive) species. Therefore, new positions are available for graduate students and/or postdocs interested in computational analysis of molecular evolution / population genetics. Training and/or experience in bioinformatics / computational research of biological sequence data are an advantage.
